Reflections about Empty Nest Syndrome

At seeing some numbers from outside, as mere spectators, it seems that humans are reproducing themselves less. In 2019, in the USA, there a reduced about born around 50% of babies if comparing the be born in 1959 (data: https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/USA/united-states/birth-rate).

In a bit more than 60 years the occidental world suffered drastic changes in habits and beliefs. The technology has approximated who are far and distanced who are close. Since around the middle of the past century, the families faced and to be continuing facing great and significant mutations in their compositions and papers.

In addition, the advance of medicine and the same technology is making us live more.

But, seeing from the inside context, we are living our dreams and expectations against any forecast. If you were born around the middle of the last century, perhaps now you are facing the Empty Nest Syndrome as a grandparent aspirant.

Empty Nest Syndrome or ENS is one of the empty feelings that emerge when children leave their parent’s house. For this moment, it is normal for the parents to crave and wait for grandchildren. It is like the feeling of life’s wheel continuing spinning whilst we are walking for our final destiny.

But You can be facing this ENS as a child that has been charged about their expectations.

I, Amalia, invited my friend, Lucia, a psychologist and neuropsychologist to discuss and share her knowledge about this important subject.

Join us and comment, share, criticize, and feel that you are not alone, independent of which side of you would be living this dilemma. We appreciate your company! Enjoy it!
